Residential Joachimstraße

Berlin

As a prototype project for "degewo" which returned to housing projects after a ten year abstinence, this should be a new housing scheme between Joachimstraße and Am-Maria-Jankowski-Park. The urban design reflects the surroundings: The building shape connects the two adjacent road systems. The ensemble of residential houses is forming a green court yard. A long block protects the ensemble against Joachimstraße which achieves quiet high quality housing.

The mix of houses reflects the demand of the area. Therefore affordable housing and life-time homes are provided.

Attention to privacy was given by taking extra care for aspects like noise protection and rights of light.
The ambitious design of this housing scheme follows the tradition of the innovative reform housing typology of the 1920’s.
