Fraunhofer IPA Stuttgart - BTL Processing technologies in lightweight construction

The project group BTL processing technology in lightweight construction is a division of the IPA. They concentrate the activities on the areas of energy and resource efficiency as well as performance enhancement through lightweight construction technologies. Due to the increasing number of employees, a new building is required for the project group BTL, which is implemented directly opposite the campus of the Institute Center Stuttgart (IZS).

The new building occupies an important corner of the new square and also forms part of the new street facades at Nobelstraße. The building shape follows the street and the square geometry; it has four floors.

The flowing, horizontal lines of the façade give the building dynamism and lightness.

The representative foyer opens to the new campus square as well as to the Nobelstraße. The stairs of the square extends into the foyer and interlink the urban outer space with the interior of the building.

The building will house a hall, offices, seminar areas and laboratories; it also has a roof terrace. The compact organization of the building allows short distances from the offices to the hall.
