Revitalization Franklinstrasse

Berlin

The building complex had housed heterogeneous uses in previous decades ranging from production and offi ces to university education, and has since been converted into a modern and fl exible-use offi ce complex by means of a fundamental internal renovation and reorganization of the space and surrounding site.

The measures taken for the urban planning and the new centralized main entrance on Franklinstraße are externally readable, with the perception of the ensemble in the urban space punctuated by a glazed corner tower denoting the important closure at the intersection of Salzufer and Franklinstraße. The tower carefully blends materiality and color with the existing construction, lending a contemporary demeanor that brings the entire complex into the present.
